Special "Thank You" to Airport Marine, Inc. for sponsoring our website for the 3rd year! See bottom of this webpage for more.
Pick-up date is Thursday, August 28th from 6 to 8 pm at the band room. We will not have any extra ribs for sale on pick-up day. You may want to bring some kind of container at pick-up time because they are so juicy.
Next year (09/10) we will have several holes in our booster board due to the fact that those positions are now being filled with "Senior Parents". These positions are vital to the band. Our band will not be able to function properly without these positions being filled. We really need some people to start learning these jobs. It will be very difficult next year for anyone that does decide to do one of these jobs with the guidance of someone who has done it before. If interested, email Mr. Bubbett. The positions are below:
VP - Fundraising Concessions - we need someone to start shadowing now because our Concessions couple have decided to home school their children. They have kindly agreed to continue running the concessions until we find someone to take over.
Please consider helping in one of our areas of need. We haven't been reduced to begging yet, but it's coming.
Thanks to Xpressions for our wonderful t-shirt design this year! Click image for larger version.
We now have information on our proposed spring trip. The year we are going to DISNEY! This year's group of Seniors are ones that never got to go to Disney on a band trip and they are excited! They will be participating in a Disney program called "You're Instrumental". You can learn about the program here and here. You can also view/print the tentative information sheet and the tentative itinerary.
Seating: Please reserve
the ENTIRE section from the "student section" rail to the end of the
stands for BAND MEMBERS ONLY. This also means NO parent or adult
worker unless specified by the specific sponsor of that group. Stadium access: We ask that you not come up the stairs where the band sits to access your seat in the stadium. Please use the second staircase (the one in front of the student section). Our percussion section and drum majors need that walkway area in front of the band. It becomes a danger for people to walk through there during a game. We do not want our drum majors to take a tumble off their ladders because someone bumped into them. Thank you. Trash: Please be aware of any trash you leave behind in the stands. In case you didn't know, the band is responsible for all trash in and around the stands. It is an agreement with the city that allows us to use the field without any charge. We have to have parent volunteers stay behind each and every game (including middle school and junior varsity) to clean up. You can help by picking up your own trash and any you see around you. If everyone stays an extra 15 minutes or so, the concession workers will not be there until midnight picking up trash AFTER they clean the concession stands. If we all pitch in, it will go much faster. We will provide trash bags; just look for a band worker walking around during 3rd quarter and grab one! Again, football stadium cleanup is not done by a paid staff, it is done by band parent volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to help with the clean up, please contact Jim Henson. The Band: On a personal note, I would like to ask that you cheer as hard for our band at half-time as you do for the football team or the other band. Our marching band has worked extremely hard; learning difficult footwork in the sweltering heat, practice after practice. The least we can do for them is to cheer when they do something really special. It does make them feel good when they hear us cheering loudly when they are performing. There is nothing so disheartening as doing a performance in front of your home crowd and not have them cheer for you. I know that I will be up there screaming and clapping as loudly as I can because I think they are fantastic!
August 29 - Mountain Brook (Home) Junior Varsity and 9th grade are also available on the football team's website (see link on Thompson Info page)
Our THS Band Alumni now have a website up and running. Their website address is http://thompsonbandalumni.com. This is fantastic news for all THS Band Alumni and future Alumni!
ATTENTION ALL 07/08 BAND SENIORS: Please consider joining the Alumni Association. It's a fantastic way to stay informed and support the band. Visit their website for information on how to join.
The Alumni is asking for a volunteer to be the "liason" between the Band Boosters and the Alumni Association. If you'd like to volunteer please contact them via their website (see link above). Click on "Board of Directors" for email link.
